Shishirganj, March 10: A college student was raped in the Niltala area of Shishirganj upazila. After the incident, the victim was admitted to the hospital, and a case has been filed with the police station on behalf of her family. According to police sources, a local youth forcibly took the girl away on her way back from college yesterday evening. Later, based on the complaint of the victim’s family, the accused was arrested that night. The officer-in-charge (OC) of Shishirganj police station said, “A case has been filed against the accused under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, and we are preparing to file a chargesheet soon.” The incident has created widespread anger among the locals. Human rights organizations have demanded exemplary punishment for the culprit.
