What to expect from the Celestial Guardians expansion in Pokémon TCG Pocket
As mentioned, Celestial Guardians will focus on Gen 7 from the tropical Alola region. There will be two booster packs — each inspired by the legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala — that players can open in this expansion.
This update will add an event to celebrate the six-month anniversary of the game’s release. From May 12 to May 28, players can partake in solo battles to collect special promo cards and complete missions to earn a full-art version of Rayquaza.
It looks like there are some pretty dang cute cards that will be added in this expansion. Here are some highlights of what’s on the way:
- Alolan Raichu ex is a Stage 1 colorless Pokémon with 140 HP and a retreat cost of one energy. It can use the attack Psychic and it requires three energy. The attack has a base power of 60 damage and does 30 additional damage for each energy attack to your opponent’s active Pokémon. (It looks cute and strong!)
- Solgaleo ex is a stage two metal Pokémon with 180 HP and a retreat cost of two energy. Its ability Rising Road allows you to switch Solgaleo ex into the active spot if it’s on the bench. It can use the attack Sol Breaker, which has a base damage of 120 HP and does 10 damage to Solgaleo each time you use it.
- Lunala ex is a stage two psychic Pokémon with 180 HP and a retreat cost of one energy. Its Psychic Connect ability allows you to move all psychic energy from one of your benched Pokémon to the active Pokémon. It has one attack called Lunar Blast and it does 100 damage and requires three energy.
